We
design and manufacture glass wall tiles for internal and
external use.
The
glass tiles will be produced in the most popular sizes - 100 x 100 mm, 150
x 150 mm, 200 x 200 mm, 250 x 250 mm and 300x300 mm. The tile thickness will
range from 6 to 10 mm.
They will be made in 4 main colours, white, blue, green and amber and in 4
colour variations based on the four main colours. Altogether there will initially
be a choice of 8 colours and two surface choices, matt and glossy.
What visibly distinguishes our tiles from rival tile products will be their
unique granular structure which affects texture and surface characteristics
and their colour which is in the body and not applied to the surface.
There
will be slight variations in appearance between each tile due to the way they
are made. The tiles will differ in their aesthetic appeal from rival tile
products.
A major difference and selling point is the fact that our tiles are produced
only from recycled glass. No other materials are added so that the glass remains
recyclable without loss of quality.
Our manufacturing process requires far less energy during the forming process
in comparison to those tiles made from virgin glass or ceramic tiles. The
glass sintering process employed by us results in a reduction of energy consumption
by a third in comparison with those methods usually employed in the glass
industry because firing temperatures are around 1000°c rather than around
1500°c.
The environmental impact is reduced also by helping to reduce the amount of
waste glass deposited in landfill sites, reducing the necessity of mining
for raw materials and reducing CO2 emissions also by reducing the movement
of raw materials and waste glass around the country and to destinations abroad.
The performance of the tiles in terms of strength and durability is equal
to rival glass, ceramic or natural stone tile products*.
Advantages of glass tiles are non-absorption of liquids of all kinds and ease
of maintenance, chemical stability and durability.
There is a growing awareness in the general public of the environmental impact
of consumer goods.
Our tiles will be offering an alternative to existing products with a large Carbon footprint.
We will manufacture opal sheet glass and supply them to lighting manufacturers,
lighting contractors and specifiers.
The special aesthetic qualities of our opal white diffuser glass are unique.
The
light transmitting characteristics make the material most suitable for designer
light fittings and interior designers1 lighting schemes.
Our designers work closely with architects, interior designers, lighting
designers and contractors to provide them with glass tailored to their
requirements.
There is at present no other glass on the market that is identical in
appearance to our glass.
The environmental benefits described for the tiles are of course applicable
here too.
In the area of lighting the environmental argument is enhanced when one considers
the current trend towards the use of energy saving light sources and 'greener'
lighting schemes.
It
is likely that consumers will in future look more and more at the
environmental impact of the whole product. In the context of light fittings
the customer will look at the way the materials surrounding the light source
have been produced.
In future customers will not be satisfied with a light fitting containing a low energy lamp surrounded with materials produced with such high energy consumption as virgin glass.
This is where our recycled glass will have an additional advantage over rival products.
Our architectural glass will initially be produced in sheet sizes of
approximately 800 x 1200 mm in thicknesses up to 25 mm. The glass will then
be cut to customers' orders. At a later stage sizes of 2400 x 1100 mm are
planned.
The glass differs from standard float glass or other mass produced glass in
the way it has been produced and in the way it looks.
It
is made entirely from recycled container or plate glass cullet in a
process resulting in the characteristic texture and internal structure.
This special character is what distinguishes our glass from ordinarily available commercial glass.
Our
glass can be produced utilising different cullet sizes and colours
creating a bespoke glass to clients' individual specifications.
